Eyre & Spottiswoode, London, 1955
First Edition, First printing: Stunning fine crisp book in a striking near fine/fine vibrant dust jacket, and accompanied by the ORIGINAL very scarce wrap around band. The chilling horror novel about an invasion of a small California town by seeds that drifted there from space. Filmed four times under the title Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Crisp first printing book in red boards with bright unfaded black titles to the spine. The book is in fine condition, with clean fresh boards still maintaining their original sheen. The book has sharp corners, with one very outer tiny tip bump, no edgewear, and a tight and square binding. This notoriously fragile book is always found with age toned pages. The end papers and internal pages have the common age toning with no owner names, no book plates and no bookstore stamps. The internal pages are clean, crisp and flat with no marks, no writing, no bent pages, no stains, no handling marks and no foxing. Beautiful crisp near fine book appearing as unread. Please see detailed images.
The original first edition dust jacket has benefited from very slight restoration to the outer spine tips by an expert paper conservator and as such presents in stunning near fine/fine condition. The spectacular jacket has unusually strong vibrant colors with a bit of toning to the rear panel, otherwise no edgewear, no chips, no rubbing, no stains and no foxing. And, the dust jacket is accompanied by the very scarce original wrap around band which is nearly always thrown away, its presence usually is the result of the book having never been read and just kept on a shelf. Their original purpose was usually one that promoted the book such as this example which states “The Star / Thriller of The Month”. The jacket is NOT price clipped and has a stated price of 10s.6d. net. Beautiful stunning jacket! Please see detailed images.
A very unique and scarce copy of this landmark Horror and SciFi title. Presents beautifully on the shelf.
