First edition, First Printing: A spectacular copy with a large full page original highly detailed drawing by Ludwig Bemelmans of Madeline, Miss Clavel, the girls all dressed in their hats and school uniforms, and most unique, Ludwig Bemelmans drew himself to the front of the art, dressed in a santa suit carrying a briefcase labeled with his initials (L.B), and "Propositions". Signed and inscribed by Bemelmans "To Uncle Henry, Here we go again, Ludwig". In the background Bemelmans drew a plane labeled "S.S Payola", the boarding ramp consisting of stairs and a stewardess.
