PAGE 69 PUBLISHED ILLUSTRATION from THE TURRET (THE RESCUERS), Illustrated by Garth Williams

An absolutely superb, adorable drawing of Miss Bianca and the mole. This original drawing by Garth Williams was published as page 69 from the third book of the series “The Turret” and is rendered in black ink on light card stock. A highly detailed drawing, the mole is wearing a worn-out straw hat which is fully frayed at the top. He is holding a rake and a giant, perfectly curled leaf (‘size’ is relative to a mouse here), is at the foot of his rake. He is squinting through his spectacles at Miss Bianca, whose arms are neatly folded and is patiently listening to him. Garth Williams used great care with his details. Miss Bianca’s feet are exquisitely dainty, her long tail and fur are perfectly accentuated, and the mole’s fur literally appears three dimensional. The vast majority of William’s art for this book was not signed as it was only intended to be published in a book, however one can see the detailed publisher’s notes to the front and the publishers address shown on the verso of the artwork. Scarce artwork from this book depicting important characters.

Presented matted, framed and glazed in a rubbed black frame with tiny red flecks.
