The Invisible Man – H.G. Wells, First Printing, First Issue

man.1 (440 x 600)

C. Arthur Pearson Limited, London, 1897

First Edition, First Printing, First Issue An excellent example of this title in the original red cloth. First edition, first printing, first issue, with the title page printed in orange and black and pages 247 and 248 being publisher’s ads

The book is in excellent condition for this title being firmly bound. The book has been professionally recased allowing for a tight binding which is sound and quite readable and without the usual cracked hinges or broken bindings. The original cloth is in beautiful vibrant condition with some slight toning to the cloth and withOUT the usual common fading of the spine cloth. Gilt titles to the front and spine. The book has sharp, but slight rounded corners with one corner bump, and no edgewear. The original end papers are present. The book has no bookplates but has what appears to be the adhesive ghost remains of a bookplate removed. Faded pencil mark to first blank page. Otherwise, no owner names and no inscriptions. The internal pages are overall remarkable clean with no stains, no bent pages and no foxing but have overall even age toning as usually found with this title. Please see detailed images. No dust jacket as issued. A handsome example of this title in a sound readable binding!

A great copy in collectible condition withOUT the typical faded spine cloth. Displays well on the shelf.
