A superb unrestored bright set in vibrant blue cloth and strong gilt to the spines and also to the front designs. Outer page block in full gilt, dark green coated endpapers. Internally a very clean set, with but a hint of scattered faded foxing to the first few pages of The Jungle Book, otherwise no foxing (which is remarkable as this set is typically found with foxing), no handling marks, no stains and no bent pages. Neat bookplate to front pastedowns of both copies. The volumes have tight and square bindings. Each has very light rubbing to the spine extremities. The Jungle Book has its original tissue guard. Illustrations in the text of both volumes, by William Henry Drake, Paul Frenzeny, and the author’s father John Lockwood Kipling. Please see the images.

A very clean and attractive pair of Kipling’s most memorable works. Based on folk tales and legends that Kipling learned during his childhood in India but written while in Vermont. This work of several inter-related short stories met with huge success upon publication and continues to enthrall readers of all ages to this day. At least fifteen movies have been released based on Kipling’s stories including the classic Walt Disney 1967 animation and its 2016 remake.
