First Edition, First Printing A fine clean crisp book with a fine/near fine FIRST STATE dust jacket. This copy is the true first edition, first printing by Stokes including the extremely scarce original first edition dust jacket, with the requisite ad for “FLAWED BLADES” by P.C. Wren on the rear flap, and the $2.00 price to the front and rear flaps.
The book is in fine condition, with vibrant unfaded red cloth boards and light blue titles to front panel and spine. The book has sharp corners, no bumps and no edgewear. The binding is tight and square. The cloth is very clean and fresh. The end papers are clean with no inscriptions, no book plates. The interior pages are clean, bright and flat. The original striking condition fine/near fine dust jacket has benefited from some very very light expert restoration limited to the outer spine tips. The jacket has Strong Vibrant Colors, with only a slight hint of fading to the spine (which more commonly fades to a green tone). The dust jacket has No rips, No chips, No staining, No edgewear, No rubbing, No chipping, No creasing, and No foxing.
